FAQ
-
Where are you located?
am located in down town La Mesa at 4730 Palm Avenue in San Diego County. I see clients both in person and virtually throughout the state of California. Virtual Therapy or Telehealth is the same service as in person and will be conducted via video format.
-
How do I get started?
The best way to get started is to reach out via email at therapybykimberlin@gmail.com or by phone at (619) 800-2506 and we can schedule a 15 minute consult to see if we would be a good fit. If we choose to work together, we will schedule our first intake session.
-
Do you take insurance?
No, I do not accept insurance at this time. Many potential clients are unaware of the drawbacks of using insurance to pay for therapy. I am happy to discuss the limitations with you during your 15 minute consultation.
A superbill or monthly invoice can also be provided. A superbill is a form that you provide your insurance with to be reimbursed for the service. Please check with your insurance provider prior to our first session if you are hoping to utilize a superbill.
-
How do I pay?
Payment in full via credit or debit card is required at the end of each session. Your payment details will be collected prior to your initial appointment and retained for the duration of your treatment.
-
What is the cancellation policy
To cancel or reschedule an appointment, you must provide at least 24 hours notice prior to your scheduled session. If less than 24 hours notice is given, you will be responsible for the full cost of the missed session, and the credit card on file will be charged for any no-show or late cancellation fees.

Do you see children and teens?
Yes! I love seeing children and teens. When working with children for the first session, it is best practice to include the parents. When seeing children and teens, Confidentiality and the importance of building a trusting relationship is imperative. Parents will be kept in the loop with general themes of sessions and will always be notified if there are any risks of self-harm, suicidal ideation, or harm to others.
I also offer parent counseling sessions to help parents navigate the challenges of parenting. Including parents in the counseling process of their children is an invaluable tool that can help with progress towards treatment goals
